Checking for a Warrant in Lamar
Lamar runs on two court paths. Municipal Court takes city ordinance, city traffic, and local criminal matters. Prowers County Combined Court holds the Colorado District Court and County Court files. Whichever name is printed on your citation, summons, bond paper, or case notice is where you start.
- Collect the full name, case or citation number, date, and issuing agency.
- Use the official Lamar warrant instructions for a city case.
- Call Lamar Municipal Court at 719-336-1355 for current municipal status.
- For a state case, use the Colorado docket as a clue and call Combined Court at 719-336-7424.
- Ask whether the warrant is active and what exact step will recall or resolve it.
Colorado posts no public statewide warrant portal. The CBI says its public criminal-history check leaves out warrants, and a police records request is not live confirmation, so Lamar questions still go to the court.
Lamar's Official Warrant Instructions
The city's warrant page says a municipal or bench warrant can follow a failure to appear or a failure to comply. Two ways out are offered. You can surrender at the Lamar Police Department, or you can appear at municipal court on the date stated in the Bond Hearing paperwork. The judge sets bail. The city publishes a $50 warrant fee, and release requires bond paperwork.

That official page lays out procedure only, not a list of people. It also cannot establish the current status of one case, so call the Lamar clerk before you act. Ask what identification and paperwork to bring, where to report, and whether counsel may contact the court before surrender.
Lamar Police and Municipal Court
Both the court and the police work out of the City complex at 102 E Parmenter Street, Lamar, Colorado. Municipal Court answers at 719-336-1355. The general city and police line is 719-336-4376; the fax is 719-336-5501.

The court controls settings, recall, bail, and case status. Police in Lamar can accept a surrender and serve process, but they stand in for neither the judge nor the clerk. The police page also lists an anonymous tip line, which is separate from resolving your own warrant.
Lamar Court Schedule and Status
The official Municipal Court page says court is typically held on the first and third Thursday at 6 p.m., with trials at 5 p.m. A posted schedule helps you time a clerk call, but it will not tell you whether a warrant is active. Confirm the current calendar and the required date before you go.

Watching a court stream is not an appearance. Colorado Judicial guidance warns that a livestream does not satisfy a required court appearance, and skipping the duty can carry consequences. Follow the method the Lamar clerk or the written court order states.
Lamar Warrant Types
Several Lamar records use the word warrant, yet they do not share one source or one way of being resolved.
| Type | How it may arise | Who controls it |
|---|---|---|
| Municipal bench warrant | Failure to appear or comply in a city case | Lamar Municipal Court |
| City traffic warrant | Municipal traffic case and court order | Lamar Municipal Court |
| County bench warrant | Missed duty in County or District Court | Prowers Combined Court |
| Arrest warrant | Probable-cause criminal process | Issuing state court |
| Search warrant | Authority to search a place or item | Issuing judge, with access limits |
Official local sources say "bench warrant" and "failure to appear." Treat "capias pro fine" as the Lamar term only if the actual document uses it.
Lamar Bond Fees and Paperwork
Lamar says most municipal warrants are personal recognizance, or PR, unless the judge orders otherwise. PR means release on a promise to meet court terms rather than a cash bond. It is not guaranteed in any one case. The $50 warrant fee is not the bail amount either; the judge sets bail. The city says cash paid in full can be applied to a future fine or returned once required appearances and obligations are met. Confirm the conditions with the clerk. Keep the Bond Hearing paperwork and bring it when instructed, and ask for a receipt plus written status after any appearance or payment.
Warning: Lamar's general PR statement and published fee do not override the judge's order in a specific municipal warrant case.
Inside a Lamar Warrant Record
Lamar publishes no named roster or public row schema. Court papers or a clerk response may still include these case fields.
| Case or citation | The local identifier, such as municipal case number. |
|---|---|
| Issuing court | Lamar Municipal Court or Prowers Combined Court. |
| Warrant basis | Failure to appear, failure to comply, or another judge's order. |
| Status | Active, served, recalled, quashed, or restricted. |
| Bond terms | PR, cash, judge-set bail, and appearance conditions. |
| Next action | Surrender, Bond Hearing, new setting, payment, or counsel contact. |
"Recall" or "quash" means the court withdrew the warrant. "Served" means the process was carried out, and it does not necessarily close the underlying case.
Lamar Municipal Payment Options
The city payment page lists cash, check, money order, Visa, and MasterCard for in-person payment. Card payment by phone is published for 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mail has to be check or money order, with the payer's name and the case or ticket number enclosed.

The city also says $60 in court costs may apply after 20 days. That figure is separate from the $50 warrant fee. Paying in Lamar only helps once the clerk confirms the account and explains whether payment resolves the warrant, sets a hearing, or covers the fine alone.
Lamar Payment Versus Warrant Recall
A receipt proves money was accepted. It does not, by itself, prove a judge recalled a warrant. Ask the Lamar clerk to separate the fine, court costs, warrant fee, bail, and any payment-plan obligation.
- Confirm the active warrant and exact case number.
- Ask which balance is due and what each charge represents.
- Follow the required payment, court, surrender, or bond route.
- Request written confirmation of recall, quash, or the next setting.
If the ticket names Prowers County Court instead of Lamar Municipal Court, the state court payment rules at 301 S Main, Suite 300 apply. State payment plans may carry a $25 annual fee. City fees never set state-court terms.
Lamar Records Requests and Warrants
Lamar splits records work into two lanes. The Lamar open-records hub posts standard and criminal-justice request forms. A request can pull a specific police record. It is not a live warrant lookup. Colorado law lets the custodian deny or limit what gets released. For current Municipal Court status in Lamar, the city clerk is the right first call, and a state-court file belongs with the Prowers Combined Court clerk instead. A broad request to the wrong Lamar office adds delay. It may still return no warrant answer. If the receiving office does not hold the requested Lamar record, ask it to name the correct custodian.
How Lamar Warrants Fit the County System
Lamar municipal court → Lamar Police or Sheriff service → municipal resolution. Prowers County or District Court → Combined Court clerk → Sheriff or another peace officer for service. These paths can share geography without sharing one database.
The countywide Prowers County warrant records overview maps the court, sheriff, and public-access routes. A Lamar resident rarely needs those unless paperwork names a county or state case. It is not the trial-court clerk. That office keeps no felony or misdemeanor case files.
Lamar Warrant Records and Public Access
Two Colorado laws govern access here. County-government records in Lamar follow the Colorado Open Records Act, while the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act and Colorado Judicial Department access rules govern the rest. "Public record" does not put every warrant field online.
Access rule: Confirm Lamar warrant status with the issuing court because sealed, juvenile, unserved, and restricted records may not be publicly disclosed.
The Colorado Judicial access guide warns that vendor indexes can be incomplete. The originating court stays authoritative. Juvenile details and sealed matters get added protection. If you are asking about yourself or family in Lamar, name the case and seek current instructions rather than a bulk roster.
Lamar Police Contact Is Separate
The official Lamar Police page lists contact details, records links, warrant instructions, and an anonymous tip line as separate functions.

Each block points to a different office. Lamar police publish no roster. A tip reports information, a records request seeks a document, and a clerk confirms a case, while surrender follows the city's own instructions.
Lamar Court Is Not of Record
Lamar says its Municipal Court is not a court of record. That is a local court, not a state one. Its orders still control municipal cases. City citations stay on that route unless an official paper says otherwise. State cases follow the Colorado Judicial Branch, and Lamar's detailed rules do not transfer to other Prowers towns.
Lamar Warrant Status Checklist
Before ending a clerk call, record answers to key questions.
- Is the warrant active, and which court issued it?
- What case number belongs on each paper?
- Does the judge require surrender, bond, payment, or counsel?
- What identification and Bond Hearing papers are needed?
- How will the court confirm recall or a new setting?
If custody is likely, speak with an attorney before an unplanned walk-in.
Lamar Warrant Records Follow-Up
Once Lamar confirms the recall, ask whether the municipal case still carries a balance, hearing, or compliance date. A recalled Lamar warrant is not a closed case. Keep the order, the receipt, and the Bond Hearing paperwork. Put the case number on every later contact. If the clerk finds a state-court file, stop using the Lamar city payment route. Combined Court sets its own payment and plan rules. A Sheriff's record cannot change a judge's order. Neither can a service response. The city of Lamar says cash paid in full may go toward a later fine or come back after required appearances and obligations. Ask how Lamar holds those funds. Ask the conditions and timing. Written proof is the sound endpoint: save the recall or quash order, verify the next setting, and follow any DMV notice separately. Neither a blank web result nor an old Lamar docket gives that certainty.
Lamar Warrant Search Travel Planning
Lamar is the county's largest incorporated place, with 7,687 residents in the 2020 Census, and it hosts the main justice offices. The Lamar city complex and Combined Court sit apart. Confirm which counter holds the case before travel. The city clerk can explain the current Municipal Court calendar and Bond Hearing route. Combined Court handles state County or District Court files. Sheriff staff explain their records and service role. None can override another office's order. Call again if paperwork and an online docket conflict. Give the case number. Ask the Lamar clerk to read back the court and the next date. Note any required identification. If a long trip or custody risk is involved, counsel in Lamar may confirm the safest lawful step first.
